A Wet Chemical Trace, 2017
HD Video with audio, 15:00

An artist and a global scent corporation capture the odor molecules of the Agalinis acuta, an endangered flower growing in New York state. We analyzed the chemical compounds, uploaded this data to a database to analyze and compare, and downloaded approximations of similar compound combinations into liquid forms. A translation of the Agalinis actua's scent. This endangered flower’s scent is tr downloaded from data, added to water vapor, and spread, now wet, through the gallery space. A video, suspended from the ceiling by silicone tubing, imagines to speak from the perspective of the Agalinis acuta, who has been released from its plant form and is now materialized in the world as a wafting of volatile chemicals.
